Changes to the 85 repeater
Today the single new antenna was installed on the Kq2 tower. Unfortunately, the range of the repeater has been drastically reduced. This is most likely caused by the digital transmitter being located extremely close to our new antenna. Today I could not hit the repeater nor even hear it either from a tall hill here in Cameron with 130 watts stationary. Base stations here cannot open or hear the repeater now also.

Folks it is time to look for a new home Im afraid. I know the offer from Ernie is there and I think this is a last resort option because of the location that he is offering presents its own new set of issues. We really need a site that is at least 300', and isolated from other rf, especially that is high power such as broadcast towers. Some site that might be an option would be the Cablevision tower SE of town, any high located water towers or possibly even the Highway patrol tower. The last option was offered to us a few years ago b y NI0R.

Keep in mind that this repeater does not only just serve St Joe but a huge chunk of NWMO that otherwise would have no repeater coverage without it. We really need some people in the St Joe area that are able to make contact with these people so that we have a Plan A, B and C to come to the next meeting with.

Just my 2 technical cents

RE: Changes to the 85 repeater
Hello
I am trying to set up a D-link Access Point DAP-1353 with my wireless router which is a D-link DIR-655.
I want this Access Point set to repeat to extend the range of my wireless router as I have thick walls.
Questions..
Wireless Setup.
Do I give it the same Wireless Network Name (SSID) as my router.
Do I set the operation mode to AP Repeater and give it the same security mode and code my router has?
Do I set it to the same channel as the router?
If I have got it wrong, please point me in the right direction and let me know what other settings I need to change.
